Still golfing...

We went to Top Golf today with my college friend LD and his wife. Top Golf is a driving range where your balls are magnetized and followed by computers, so that you can see how far they went and score points by hitting them at certain targets. It's kind of like a cross between a driving range, a bowling alley, and an outdoor bar. We didn't know if Sarh was going to be able to swing a club, with her belly and all, but it actually went great! Here's the evidence:

Also, on doctor's orders, she's eating more protein and less carbs/sugar. So believe it or not, today she had a great cheeseburger at Top Golf. And then she showed me up by consistently scoring more points for our team.

It's Spring in Vienna!

Sixty-five degrees and sunny today. Look what popped up in the front yard.

All Washed and Ready to Go

Sunday afternoon, living room couch.

Boy or Girl??

First of all, credit to this blog post idea goes to my friend, Kate, who is expecting a baby in July, and also has a blog.  While reading her stories recounting who thinks they are having a boy or a girl and why, I realized we have a few good stories ourselves.

Very soon after Matt & I found out we were pregnant Matt's sister & mom were sure we were having boy.  Why?  Family history.  If you consider Matt's father's father's side of the family, everyone has had a boy first.  Matt's grandfather had Uncle Bruce first.  Uncle Bruce had Scott first and Scott had Sam first.  Matt's Dad had Matt first and each of his other siblings had boys first as well - Uncle Alan had Jonathan and Aunt Carol had Eli.  This seemed like a pretty strong argument to me, although at the time I was feeling sooo nauseous and had heard that girls might make you more nauseous so I was thinking more girl.  (Of course Matt liked to tease me that I had no frame of reference and maybe I was not really feeling THAT nauseous comparatively - uhg!)  Once the nauseousness wore off I might have been beginning to be convinced it was a boy...and then at our shower in February my cousin Lois saw me and told me she was sure it was a girl.  I said, "how can you be sure?"  Family history, of course!  I hadn't realized it, but if you look at my mother's mother's mother's side of the family, everyone has had girl first.  My great-grandmother had two girls, my Grandma Onie and my Aunt Helen (and I actually don't remember who is older).  My Grandma Onie had my mother and my mother had me. My Aunt Helen had Lois, who had Kathy first, who had Amanda first, who also had a girl first.   Whew!

Well, there is one thing I know for certain - one of these family trends will be broken!

Nursery Update

Last night, we went to Babies R' Us and filled two shopping carts with baby stuff. We were planning on going to Target as well, but since the stuff from Babies R Us barely fit in our car, we had to call it a night. Here's some of the stuff we got.

Pack N' Play

Bassinet, a brutal assembly,
although it didn't turn into a marital spat

We also spent a lot of time this week getting our nursery together. We inventoried our clothes and bought some Dreft so we could wash them. We also rearranged the nursery furniture and moved our Ikea chair up there from the living room, it's old spot now occupied by the pack N play. Here's a shot of one side of the baby's room:

And here's a shot of the other:

We haven't put up any pictures yet (you can see the elephant painting sitting on the chair our friend Wesley got us in Africa, ready to hit the wall but not there yet), and everything is not put away, but we've made quite a bit of progress compared to how it looked on February 1.
