new schedule, new adventures

For the past few weeks Anna has been having a lot of trouble falling asleep for her afternoon nap. I tried shortening her morning nap to an hour, tried putting her down earlier and later for her afternoon nap, but nothing seemed to work. And while she usually fell asleep easily for her morning nap, on a few occasions she was having trouble falling asleep then to. So on Friday we tried skipping the morning nap and taking an earlier afternoon nap. It seemed to work well so we did it again yesterday and today and it continued to work well. (She feel asleep easily for her nap, slept longer, and slept longer at night!) So we'll see, maybe this is our new schedule?

So far switching to one nap a day has given us a little more freedom. On Friday we went to the Air & Space Museum and today we went to the zoo!

Anna's favorite animal by far was the meerkat:

Cover girl

Anna got professional photos taken today. She was a little hesitant to break out her smiles right away, but once I started singing "Trot Old Joe," she brightened right up. In fact as the photographer was trying to get a few final shots he said, "Can you sing that horse song again?" Here are my favorite shots:

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Yesterday was Daddy's birthday! Anna & I surprised Matt for lunch in Washington and last night we had one of Matt's favorite dinners - pot roast & mashed potatoes. Grandma & Grandpa are visiting for the weekend so tonight we're headed out for a dinner date - yah!

I will miss you, Clara!

Anna had a sad "good-bye" today as we had our last ladies luncheon with Lindsey & Clara, at least for a little while. Clara is moving to sunny Miami on Tuesday and bringing her parents with her. We will miss them very much!

Ready to live in Miami (and visit Miami!)

One last fight over the push toy!

First friends :)

First steps with some help

About 2 weeks ago Anna tried walking with a push toy at a friend's house, but she just wasn't ready to take the steps to keep up. In the past week she has started to push our dining room chairs around, which don't move too fast. Then on Tuesday when we were at playgroup she tried another push toy and was able to keep up! Yesterday at Clara's house her and Clara actually fought over Clara's push toy. (With Anna at one point trying to push Clara off of it while yelling.) So last night when Matt got home from work we went out and got Anna her own push toy. Matt put it together right when we got home so she could take a couple laps before bed. She was thrilled:
