Runaway babies...

Remember when Liam and Anna sat quietly next to each on the coach for a photo shoot? Well, now that Anna walks everywhere and Liam has his speed crawl perfected plus the ability to take some steps, it's pretty hard to get their picture together. This is the best I could do while Liam was visiting this weekend:

Most of the shots I took look like this:

On the other hand, Nana sits very well for a photo shoot:

so does Daddy and Mr. Bear:

other news from the beach...

Anna has been busy playing a few new games at Grandma & Grandpa's house. First, the parade, which involves Anna pushing Mr. Bear around the house on her train while other people follow her pulling pull toys. Second, a cross between peak-a-boo and hide-and-go-seek, where Anna runs around the house hiding and peaking at different people. Both games are difficult to stop because as soon as you stop playing Anna motions to keep going.

Anna has had a lot of fun on the beach. She especially likes shoveling sand, knocking down sandcastles, collecting shells, and walking in and out of the water. Apparently she doesn't believe she needs much supervision in the water as she takes it upon herself to just stroll off to the ocean whenever she feels like it. (Yes, of course someone follows her.) She doesn't seem to mind if she gets hit by the end of a wave, but we've also had no problem with her running very far into the ocean - so she must be at least a little scared of the waves. She really just likes to play in the water after the wave breaks.

Yesterday Dad took Anna onto a par 3 practice hole. She enjoyed carrying the putter around, putting the ball in the hole, and helping Dad take the pin in and out of the hole. Supposedly she putted a ball into the whole, although only Dad witnessed this.

Anna has had a few HUGE meals while on vacation. The biggest for sure was at Provision Company where she ate the 1/2 zucchini and kidney beans I brought for her as well as the whole hot dog and bun we ordered her as well as a little bit of everything else on the table: corn fritters, crab cakes, corn, french fries. I think there were a few more that I can't remember.

She has continued to enjoy dancing down here, especially when we put on Mr. Rabbit and everyone dances with her. Anna has four main moves which she alternates between: bouncing up and down, swaying back and forth, waving her arms around, and stomping her feet.

There is a new house being built next door and Anna has especially enjoyed watching the bulldozers, diggers, and cement truck do their work. If she can hear them she points out the door so someone will take her outside to watch them.

Mom & Dad have had a lot of fun too. Besides playing a lot of golf ourselves and of course spending lots of time with everyone at the beach and pool, we spent an afternoon at a waterslide park in Myrtle Beach, which was a blast!

Anna wasn't so sure of the sand at first, but since she has gotten used to it, she can't get enough shoveling, building, and knocking down.

summer days in North Carolina

We're currently in Southport, North Carolina at Grandma & Grandpa's house. Also here is Uncle Dan, Uncle Pete, Great-Grandma Jane, and Aunt Diane. Anna has had a great time running around the house, pushing her train around the porch, and playing with everyone. She's also had fun at the beach, pool, and taking a ferry ride to an aquarium. Pictures are coming soon. Here's a fun movie for the meantime.

Happy 4th of July!

We had a great 4th of July weekend celebrating with our good friends, Steve, Kate, Thomas, Gabe, and John, who came to visit us for the weekend :) A few highlights from the weekend:

Anna is a real trend setter with her bubbles!

We couldn't figure out which age, 1, 3, or 5 enjoys the water table the most.

Dad was holding John and someone got jealous :)

At Neilson's for some frozen yogurt :)

Happy 4th of July!!

3 gentlemen and 2 lovely ladies :)

after Gabe scored a hole in one on his first mini golf hole!

Can you tell how happy I am in this shot?

The Sherwin Family!

Thanks so much for your visit!! We had such a wonderful time :)

haircut!

Anna got her first real haircut on Monday. Mom did the haircut while she was entertained by Grandma, Grandpa, and Sesame Street. Here are the before and afters:

bubbles, bubbles, bubbles

Obviously, bubbles have been a big theme recently around the Glassman household. Tonight Anna blew her first bubble! It's very cute to watch her with the bubbles. She takes the little wand, dips it into the bubbles, takes it out and blows. Of course when she holds the wand herself she doesn't actually create any bubbles because she doesn't understand to line up the wand with her stream of air. The bubble she blew happened while Dad held the wand for her. Mostly, though, she likes to hold the wand herself.

a visit from Grandma & Grandpa

This past weekend Grandma & Grandpa came to visit. Anna had a great time going to playgrounds, taking rides in her car, blowing bubbles, reading stories, and visiting Neilson's Frozen Custard with her Grandparents :)

two syllable words!

In the past few days Anna has added two new words to her vocabulary, "bu....ble" and "tur....tle." "Bubble" was inspired by blowing bubbles outside with Grandma and Grandpa. "Turtle" was inspired by a recount of Mom & Anna's trip to the National Aquarium to Dad while sitting in the tub and viewing her turtle toy. Previous to last night I was surprised to know that "turle" was cousin Jonathan's first word. I'm still kind of shocked even though I witnessed the barely talking toddler say it last night.
