Summer days in Upstate New York

On Monday we got back from a great trip to Albany. We all had lots of fun spending time with family and friends. Along with all our family living in Albany, Uncle Pete, Uncle Dan, Aunt Bridget, Aunt Diane, and Great Grandma Jane all came to town part of the time we were there. We also got to visit our good friends, the Sherwins. Dad went on his annual trip to the track with his friends, and Mom got to see her high school friends, Bridget and Janel. We took Anna to the track one day. She mostly loved seeing the horses up close in the stables and in the paddock, but she did enjoy cheering for "Miss Dora" in a race. We also got to celebrate Liam's second birthday. Happy Birthday Liam! Overall a great week! Here are a few highlights:

We have a roller!

Abby rolled over from her tummy to her back when she was about 6 weeks old. Until this week she only did that once in a while. Starting this week she became very interested in rolling from her back to her tummy. At first she would just roll to her side once in a while, but about 5 days ago it became her obsession. Every time we put her on her back she would just roll to her side and work on rolling over. Then 3 days ago she made it all the way! Since then everytime we put her on her back she finds her way to her tummy in a few minutes. Sometimes she rolls back and forth a few times and sometimes she just hangs out on her tummy.

I'm really excited about her new trick, but I must admit I'm a little disappointed that it is already difficult to change her diaper! We finally got Anna to behave on the changing table with a sticker reward system and now Abby is the one rolling and kicking! Well, I'm sure her obsession will just be a phase and she will move onto something else soon enough. Then I should get another grace period where she is good for a year or so...but then again, as I'm learning, what Anna did is not necessarily a predictor of what Abby will do!

"Grama-Grapa" visit

Grandma and Grandpa, or as Anna calls them, "Grama- Grapa," came to visit us last week. Anna and Abby had a great time playing with their grandparents! Here's a few great shots from the week:

11 weeks!

On Sunday Abby turned 11 weeks old. She has been spending much more of her awake time happy. She has also been very busy eating and watching Anna. I read somewhere that the 3 month baby often eats more than the 2 month baby because their appetite increases. I think that is true for Abby as she seems to be a very hungry little girl! She also loves to watch Anna play. If she is sitting in her bouncy seat or swing while Anna is playing in the same room her eyes follow Anna everywhere.

Here I come!

Abby is so strong! I guess Anna was about the same age when she started lifting her head up during tummy time, but I think Abby has actually been able to do this for a little while and I just haven't gotten it on camera yet. The real amazing part though, is that she can crawl! Okay, not crawl on all fours, but if you put her down on her stomach she makes serious forward progress. Her legs are much stronger than her arms though, so the way she moves forward is by scrunching her legs up under her and jolting herself forward as she drives her face into the ground. I love letting her practice, but I have to figure out a way to prevent her from dragging her poor little cheeks across the rug.
