Back to the beach

Yesterday we headed back to the beach with Anna. Our plan was to stick around for a while instead of fitting the trip between naps (by the time we drive there and drive home that really only leaves us 1 1/2 hours on the beach), which doesn't leave us much time to hang out. We also decided to try to hang out with Anna on the actual beach instead of hanging out on the covered deck a little ways from the ocean. We had a great beach umbrella to keep her out of the sun, but the hardest part of this plan was keeping the sand out of her hands. Once the sand is in her hands it is inevitably going...you guessed it, in her mouth! So while she was awake we had a continual battle with this. Ultimately, I think she only ate a few sand grains. How bad can that be, right?

Anna had a great time hanging out under the beach umbrella with Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Pete, Dad, & Mom. She took a another stroll down to the waves (or "whooshes" as Matt called them on his first beach trip (age 16 months). She was definitely interested, but maybe a little scared. We thought we might have to head out early when the beach nap was initially not working out, but she did ultimately fall asleep under the umbrella in her car seat for about 2 hours.
